Spring Sampler 2013

Released: 06/05/2013
Next up on Axon Recordings we have a superb two-track EP, from two superb up-and-coming artists.
Onkakmir is up first on the EP with ‘5am’. After a couple of great remixes for us, we were keen to get Onkakmir on board with an original. He treats us to a deep, moody and melancholic number. Awesome stuff!
The 2nd track is from the talented Frank Maris. Although this is Frank’s first appearance on the label, you’ll be hearing more from him soon! ‘The Story of Tapir’ is a great slice of deep house, with a solid groove and a subtle but infectious lead. It completes the EP perfectly.

Eliogold - Crossroads EP

Released: 15/04/2013
We’re very happy to welcome back our good friend Eliogold for the next release on Axon Recordings. Now with his 3rd release for the label, alongside some superb remixes, this latest EP certainly shows why he’s a name to watch! His previous releases with us received some great feedback from DJs such as Sander Kleinenberg, Nick Stoynoff, D-Phrag and Scotty.A. We’re certain he has a bright future ahead of him.
‘Crossroads’ kicks off the EP, with it’s superb bass line, melodic elements and synth lead. Although the track has a great deep house feel, it could easily work for tech house or progressive DJs. We love it!
Completing the EP is ‘The Astounding Fact’, which moves us in to tech house territory. The track has a nice percussive groove which works really well with the bass line and vocal samples. Elio definitely shows off his production skill and versatility here!

Mescaline - Echo of Silence

Released: 25/03/2013
The next release on Axon Recordings come from Mescaline, who is making his debut with ‘Echo of Silence’. This promising Russian producer, who also releases under the alias En-Core, has provided us with a beautiful piece of true progressive house.
The track has a wonderfully deep atmosphere, created by the rich but melancholic soundscapes. He really has done a great job on this one!
Keeping it things deep, Onkakmir is back on remix duties for the label. His version takes us on a trip in to downtempo electronica, makes excellent use of the original elements. The addition of haunting piano sounds, give the remix some emotional depth, and takes it to the next level. Lovely stuff!

Che Armstrong - Too Much

Released: 11/03/2013
Axon Recordings boss Che Armstrong is back with another superb release, and his second of 2013. Back in January, we saw the release of ‘Dexter’ which gained some nice feedback and support from the likes of Jaytech, Slam, Tilt and many others.
Che’s latest offering is ‘Too Much’, which edges towards tech house territory, while still allowing his progressive and techno influences shine through. Che has created a great percussive groove, coupled with a tasty bass line. The ‘too much’ vocal samples really work well, as well as the atmospheric pads in the breakdown.
Remix duties fall to Axon regular Eliogold, who we feel has done an amazing job. This remix has a great deep house vibe, while remaining versatile enough to work for a lot of DJs. Eliogold is definitely a name to watch in 2013!

Withakay - Voices in My Head

Released: 17/02/2013
After some superb releases with us in 2012, Withakay returns to the label with yet another great release. His previous releases gained some feedback from DJs such as Nick Warren, Tilt, Cid Inc and Luke Porter. We hope this continues with his first release of 2013.
Filled with elements of deep melodic techno, ‘Voices In My Head’ has a wonderfully melancholic feel to it. Making great use of his modular synth, the track features Withakay’s unique analogue sound. He was also kind enough to provide us with the alt.mix, for those who like a glitchy alternative sound.
Backing up the original mixes are two superb remixes from LoQuai and Onkakmir. Each providing a different take on the orignal mix, the guys have done amazing jobs here, reworking the track in to their own style. The remixes complete the package perfectly, but definitely make it hard to pick a favourite!

Che Armstrong - Dexter

Released: 21/01/2013
To kick-off 2013, label boss Che Armstrong has teamed up DarXoul for the next relase on Axon. Collectively, support of their previous releases has come from the likes of Cid Inc, Jaytech, Dubfire and Chris Lake! We hope this support continues, and it’s great to welcome the guys back for the new year.
Named and inspired by Che’s favourite TV show, ‘Dexter’ is a great progressive house track. The track has a nice and dark underground feel, with some tasty tech influences thrown in for good measure. The track should work well for a lot of DJs, and is ready to be played on a big system.
Returning to the label is Chris Johnson, with his superb remix of ‘Dexter’. Chris gives the track a smooth and laidback feel. Keeping it deep and progressive, Chris has added some amazing melodic elements, on top of a grooving bass line. Top work here!

Anthony, who’s seen some great releases on labels like Baroque, Vaopur and Lowbit, has seen his tracks supported by the likes of Paul Oakenfold, Dave Seaman, Kassey Voorn and Tilt. We hope you enjoy his new one!
‘Bohemian Groove’ has a solid and deep progressive sound at it’s core. Anthony makes the track interesting, with infulences of techno and tech house coming through. It should crossover ad appeal to a wide selection of DJs.
Remix duties fall with the ever reliable Scotty.A and Withakay. Scotty works his magic on the track. The prog/tech elements of the original suit Scotty’s style perfectly. With a great analogue feel to them, Withakay delivers 2 versions and edges towards melodic techno territory. Great work all round!

Graham Laverty - If U Need Me

Released: 12/11/2012
The next release on Axon comes from Newcastle based DJ and producer, Graham Laverty. Graham has had some great releases on labels such as Deep Edition, Plusquam, Tribal Rage and Maktub, as well as some big DJ support. We’re very pleased to welcome him to the family!
With ‘If U Need Me’, Graham has created a tasty slice of tech house. The track has a solid tribal-esque groove, along with a superb rolling bass line. The addition of the female vocal sample takes the track to the next level. Graham proves here he’s definitely a name to watch!
Remixes come from Eliogold, Withakay and Michael K Pres. DarXoul. Eliogold stays with the tech house vibes, while adding his own unique flavour. Meanwhile, Withakay and DarXoul give ‘If U Need Me’ a techno rework. Withakay’s version edged towards a twisted and melodic techno sound, and DarXoul gives his version a big festival sound.
